Big Hiatus

1 min read

If you’re wondering why have I not post anything for the past month, I haven’t even been drawing either, I’ve been working like an actually job. 8 hours (plus 30 mins lunch break) a day, 5 days a week; too tired to draw. Can’t say it’s a glorious job but what job is glorious these days, heck, I‘m not in it for the money, though money is nice, something to distract me from my stress of being meaningless and useless and how messed up the “Miraculous” show is of now; I kind of lost interest and meaning in drawing. But at least I work in a nice location close to home and have kinder people around other than my family. But I do wish I get back to drawing soon; one day.

I saw the Miraculous: Awakening movie.

I needed that because I watched Oppenheimer in iMax right before; its not a scary movie but the thought of nuclear weapons was horrible, and I’ve seen what happened. Maybe I’m just been weird, after watching Oppenheimer, I feel I can‘t close or blink my eyes; wide open. I can but feels I don’t want to, if I do then everything I see might be the last thing I see before going up in a flash.

I feel the sad insignificance of Mankind with comparing the power of atoms and cosmic energy and the Universe, or the power of physics.

So, I needed a visual and mental palate cleanser.

Now about Miraculous: Awakening.

Boy, I don’t know where to begin or how to say. How about the fact that is has a better story than the entire show since 2015. But you already said that. But seriously, why can we have that in the show?

No wonder Zag took his eyes of the show’s plot and let Astruc ran amok with it. He was trying to make a masterpiece and couldn’t have juggle on the show.

I hate to talk negative stuff but its best adress first. Aside from the story plot, all Astruc did was made the characters hatable even the minor ones. Whether they are so petty and evil from Gabriel, Chloe, and Lila primarily. Or being so stupid like Master Fu, Alya, Kim, Sabrina, too many to name.

But the biggest idiots of all I’m afraid are Marinette and Adrien.

I once said to SonicPossible00 Astruc corrupts everything he touches, the show’s stories, characters, our fan‘s love, hopes and inspiration. As for me, even Gary is corrupted by Astruc’s influence. How can he not? With everything the world go bad, Gary go bad.

Now the good parts I suppose.

Not a big fan into musicals, but after Miraculous show’s bad run and Oppenheimer, I desperately need a refresher and almost taken anything new. Besides, I was hoping for good songs. In fact, I collect soundtracks that I want to listen again. Starting from here, there will be few major spoilers.

When Gabriel and Adrien hugged near the end, it feels as if a fan wrote it but in a great way. I wrote before, Gabriel is a bad guy who caused so much harm, I hate him (the show version) but he is doing it out of love and he still love and care for his son, by bring back his wife and his son’s mother. And I want to believe there is room for redemption.

Chloe… She‘s more nicer than the current show version. She still a bitch but a fun bitch (not that kind of “fun” or “bitch”).

Like how she (kind of) threatened to bully Marinette next school year but as if were a friendly challenge between rivals.

Chloe is more the kind of person you pull pranks with. Hopefully one day you, I, and Chloe would look back in laugh together.

I wonder how Zag portray Lila; better villain character and redeemable I hope.

There are few ‘bad’ elements from that show in the movie that couldn’t be helped as part of their narrative.

The Adrienette and Ladynoire Love Square. Their secrets and unable to be open are hurting each other and themselves.

Ladybug and Chat Noir were unable to find and defeat Hawkmoth in battle. Then again, Hawkmoth is smart, he never reveal himself unless he’s desperate. And he’s powerful because of some ‘villain plot armor’ but defeated because he changed his mind.

Don’t get me wrong, I love how Gabriel/Hawkmoth’s end turned but that essentially says Ladybug and Chat Noir were weak against him. Speaking of Hawkmoth, I didn’t miss his dumb-looking mask. That top hat in his song scene, just as I thought, he’s a a pimp.

From what I heard from fan critics and comments, Astruc’s Ladybug and Chat Noir’s partnership unbalanced; like Ladybug is the supreme character; Astruc’s Mary-Sue. and Chat Noir being her sidekick and an “accessory”, a “Ken to his Barbie” (Astruc’s words).

Anyway, Zag shows the fairness of Ladybug and Chat Noir’s relationship; showing both side’s desires, happiness, and struggles, and strength in their teamwork.

And finally, Marinette and Adrien’s identity reveal and finally in love. For so long, so long, episode after episode, hours of binge-watching, 4 years now for me. That was perhaps one thing I want to see the most. And Zag accomplished all that in about 100-minute movie.

I can’t say it feels exactly when I first got into Miraculous but it did made me feel chipper like in my early days, made think of Gary being the Gray Gunner and his humorous and somewhat carefree attitude. Sure, Gary is kind of crazy and delusion but being a superhero was a best and happiest thing of his life. And of course Gary as Blackwing and Victoria as Lady Raven.

I never felt this much enjoyment for Miraculous other than the supervillain fights that a temporary moments.

Oh boy… Sometimes I wonder the movies are better than the shows simply because they don’t drag the plot so long. A one-hit wonder.

Maybe its my opinion but its safe to say Miraculous: Awakening is the best thing Miraculous.

The biggest downside even for the best adaptation movies is they can’t explain everything in greater details: the lore, backstories, sub-plots, characters, etc.

Okay… Dumb question. “Dumb question” because I an artist and longtime DeviantArt member should know this by now. Whenever I make an art set, or multiple drawings as part of a single theme, should I post which ever I finished at a time or should I post them all at once? Each have their upsides and downsides.

Post all at once This art set is planned to be surprise so you’ll be in a surprise if I post them all at once. But by the time I’m done and posted them all, the fandom or ‘meme’ might be over that time and my art theme is will be short-lived.

Post one at a time This art set as a whole set is currently incomplete and I still have drawing to so it will take a long time to finish. But to keep my content ‘alive’ and I’m kind of on a deadline, maybe I should post which ever art I’m finished with. Plus, it keeps the theme going. Though that will kind of ruin the surprise for what comes next. As for my viewers’ perspective that your guys. Are really eager to see my art or you don’t mind the long wait. Which one do you think? Of course, some of you would answer which ever is best for me. Maybe that is the real case, its still for me to decide, I just need time to think. Writing this helps me think. Hearing your thoughts might help me think better and I will deeply appreciate them. So, what are you thoughts. I’ll be gladly to hear.

You know, Season 5 (and 4) is not all bad, least for me. I like the episodes that doesn’t involve vilifying Chloe or Lila, or sad and messy ‘Adrienette’ love drama, or even Gabriel meddling in their relationship.

Call it boring, I mostly enjoy watching Ladybug and Chat Noir (with the help of any superheroes if any) fighting Hawkmoth or whatever the ‘villain-of-the-week’; foiling Hawkmoth’s evil plan on the day. And anything about the lores and powers of the Miraculouses. Even in episodes I disliked. Which I enjoy since I first started.

I just watched episode Intuition, though it’s part of the Season 5 storyline but there something nostalgic to me, if you will, reminds me why I love Miraculous in the first place and what it should’ve been like before.

I won’t give the plot or details of the episode, not the point here. So, no spoilers I hope.

Sure, Gabriel is an evil, cruel, and manipulative supervillain and abusive controlling father toward Adrien, I hate him and always will. But by the end of day, he is struggling father trying to do what he thinks it’s best for his son. And there was a small moment where Gabriel ask Adrien, his son, how he feel and listens to him. I can’t feel sympathy for him; makes me think Gabriel has some good and capable of change for the better.

I find it hard to believe Intuition is even related to the other episodes before and after in this season, it’s like Gabriel in this episode and others are two different people.

Besides, I find this season‘s Gabriel and his new Monarch persona very nasty and serious.

Sure, it helps progress the story but I like the old Gabriel being a more somewhat caring father and a cartoony villain; I even missed him being Hawkmoth and his stupid goofy mask.

Anyway, Intuition, though part of Season 5, reminds me how Miraculous and Gabriel used to be.

To those know what Chloe is becoming in the show, there are so many things I still don’t get, questions in my head, it annoys me so much that I can’t stop thinking in my waking hours, even before and after I sleep.

Where to even begin?

Why Astruc hate Chloe so much? Its almost feels personal. I commonly hear rumors that Chloe is based off of his childhood bully or something.

And as for the other writers besides Astruc, where do they see in all this? How do they see Chloe? What do they have to gain from the current narrative? Do they see and feel about the Chloe the same way or were they forced to cooperate with Astruc?

And what’s the point of Chloe at all? A literal plot device for Marinette and Adrien’s growth and relationship?

It all feels like one big waste; all of it!

Chloe/Queen Bee, or suppose to be her, was supposed to be nice and happy girl in the concept art, even as Marinette’s best friend and part of Bugette before Miraculous first began.

Chloe’s “Redemption Arc” in the show.

All those times Ladybug and Chat Noir saved her from Akuma attacks. If I have my way and knew what she is now, I would’ve let her Stoneheart threw her to the pavement and splat in Origins. Mainly because that’s perhaps the moment where Chloe was very close to her death.

All those Chloe/Queen toys and dolls they sold, all those pictures of her in their promo and ads, they just throw her under the bus.

all those fan art and fan fiction we’ve made over the years. All for nothing. I’d like to say more, say those Chloe-hating Miraculous fans, her good/bad moments, or that Chloe don’t deserve this kind of mistreatment in the show, but these should suffice for now.
